Grassroots Innovation Tour available through D-Lab. 10 years and up.
Sign-up for this activity is separate from the field trips offered through the Edgerton Center.
This activity takes place at MIT's D-Lab in Building N51 every Tuesday from 1:00 pm to 2:00 pm. During this tour, students explore different technologies designed for development while learning about the culture, challenges and stories of those living in poverty around the world and how innovation can change their lives. Technologies include charcoal preparation from agricultural waste, seed shellers, a pedal-powered washing machine and other pedal-powered technologies, a wheel chair and corn shellers. All the technologies can be used by participants under our supervision. Spanish versions of the tour are available for groups by request.
