Training is on hold, due to construction

The Edgerton Student Shop is closed, as we are building a 1st floor addition to create a student mechatronics laboratory. When the shop reopens (early in the Spring term) we will resume our training program.

Thank you for your patience!

The monthly training program is conducted in the evenings and consists of 12 hours of hands-on instruction. Students learn the basics of milling and lathe work by making two small parts and ultimately fabricating their own steel flashlight.

If you are a registered MIT student, have a well rounded familiarity with machine safety, use, tooling and proper setup, you can schedule a meeting with an instructor to gain access by taking a safety lecture, which is offered every few weeks as needed.

To apply for training you must currently be a registered MIT student.

Please email the shop manager, Mr. Mark Belanger, at mdbelang@mit.edu, to sign up for training.
