A hive of activity, the Area 51 CNC Shop is dedicated to supporting MIT students who, in true mens et manus fashion, are getting their hands dirty in all of the best ways.

Originally acquired in 2007 to support student clubs and teams, it’s now a central fabrication facility with CNC lathes and milling machines, an injection molding machine, and a water jet cutter..

Training

Training is available to currently registered MIT students who are actively participating on an Edgerton Center club or team. Students will learn the basics of milling and lathe work by fabricating components for their club or team projects.
